My son is 6 and going into first grade, this is the first time that he won't be home for lunch. I can come up with all sorts of things to pack for healthy snacks but I'm really having trouble with a main meal. He's really picky and most days at home he either eats ham or chicken nuggets, anyone else have any other suggestions??

First of all check with his school and see if they have access to a microwave, if they do what I normally send for my son is leftovers of something he likes, or a pizza pop, or other microwaveable meals. My son does not eat sandwiches so I will send him the fixings for a sandwich without the bread and he will eat that so he gets lunch meat a cheese string and pickles. My son also loves salad so we also sometimes send salad with either chicken, turkey or ham bits in it. I have also sent hard boiled eggs, unlike you though my son is not picky so it is a little easier to do lunches for him.

Chaya I'm looking for meal suggestions for lunch. If he doesn't like something he won't eat, he'll go all day without eating he doesn't have much of an appetite and he's already at the bottom of the weight charts. But thanks for the tip.

Teach him not to be so picky, it can be detrimental to his healty. I have a rule, take it or leave it. if my kids want to go hungry, that's their problem. They aren't allowed to eat after dinner if they didn't eat dinner.
