First week of school done with one in G4, one in G6 and one preschooler. How do you handle the morning craziness? Lunches, washing, dressing all of us feels CRAZY. Would love some tips and ideas...

I have the same aged kids as you, and it can be crazy that's for sure. We have a routine, otherwise it would be chaotic.

The two older kids shower in the morning (one eats first, then showers, other wakes and showers)(parents up and showered before this). Little one showed night before.

Clothes laid out night before.

Back packs and homework, all laid out night before. Weather checked night before, appropriate clothing selected for weather (coats, boots, etc.).

My kids are picky eaters which is terrible in some regards, but actually makes lunches easier - they select their snacks and fruits (I lay variety on counter) but they like the same sandwiches almost daily so no guesswork. I make the sandwich, they select the rest and pack their lunch boxes.

The biggest thing we did was no screen time whatsoever in the mornings, unless everything was done, backpacks ready by the door, coats out, etc. Now we find the kids rush to get everything done, so they can have a few minutes of tv before school. I am not into TV before school, but if it motivates them and gives me a minute of peace before we leave the house, I'm fine with it. It's worked wonders.

I only have the one boy. But I wake him up at 6:30 (right after daddy gets out of the shower). We bath at night. I get his breakfast ready while he dresses and uses the bathroom. Then he eats and then brushes his teeth. While he is doing all of that I finish getting ready and pack my lunch. My son eats lunch at school. Then I make the beds, put dishes away from dishwasher and clean up after breakfast. Then out the door we go at 7:15.

I have 1 preschooler and an 8month old and am pregnant...

So, the night before I prep and plan, I lay out clothes, pack bagpacks pre stage packed lunches.

I make sure to wake my daughter at 6:45 to get us out of the door at 7:45 (school starts at 8:15) BUT, I wake up at 6:00 to get myself dressed, eat breakfast, and finish the prep I started the night before. I also need to watch the news in PEACE and take a look at the weather...and maybe pray too....

The baby is easy, most of the time she sleep when we leave, but I make a bottle to take when she wakes up after I drop off my daughter.

And My preschooler I dress in about 10 minutes tops...but she takes the other 35 mins to eat breakfast and actually wake up her brain!!! lol...

We do much of the same thing noted here. Everything organized the night before. I also usually make breakfast for a few days - hardboiled eggs, scrambled eggs, steelcut oats, pancakes, etc. They're just in the fridge, ready to be heated up. I make a big thermos of tea in the morning so it's easy for everyone to help themselves.

Also we've shifted to waking the kids up earlier (and going to bed earlier) so they have more time in the morning to get going.

I found this article about how important it is to reduce the morning craziness! I always thought it was an issue, but this article got me even more motivated to make mornings calmer and give ourselves a little more time to get out the door:

Hope this helps!

Woo, don't I know it! Class starts at 7:30 am here so they have to be out the door by 7am. Luckily he is my only one so I can go back to bed afterwards.

THAT is early!
I make sure kids are showered night before and clothes laid out and lunch bags ready to stuff.
BUT we don't get up till 7:30 and the kids usually 8..the joys of living near the school and work

After my son goes to bed I try to prepare as much as I can that night like preparing and ironing clothes, packing his lunch, making sure everything is in his bag. I also give him a shower before bed and make sure all homework is done. I wake up at 5:30 am and make breakfast and then get him up at 6 to eat (this is my big issue it takes him forever and lots of fighting to eat) and then I dress him, brush his teeth and wash his face and he has a bit of down time to watch cartoons, etc before his dad takes him to school.

We make lunch the night before, and lay clothes out. Its breakfast, shower, dress and grab bags and go here, and I only have one in kindergarden right now.
