My 12 year old has been having up to 3 very loose bowel movements daily for the past week. Any ideas?

She has been complaining of lower abdominal pains ( I attributed to possibly nearing menstration) Now today as she's crying horribly I find out that she has diarreha, and she says she's had up to 3 very loose bowel movements almost daily for longer than a week. Any ideas or is she possibly exaggerating?

Make sure she drinks plenty of water or watered down juice, no citris juice. Also the bowl needs to be rested, that means no food, she can eat soda crakers, jello, plain white bread, popsicles are also good. The more she drinks, she won't feel hungry. I have plenty of experince dealing with diarreha. I would take her to the doctor just to make sure that everything is fine, since it's been a week.

honestly that could be so many things...irritable bowel syndrome.... pin worms... stomach posioning...i would make a appointment with the doctor and see what he thinks

good luck :) hope it all works itself out

Is she running fever? Could it be a GI virus?

Also, is there anything that she is eating daily that MIGHT be causing the loose stols? Maybe too much greasy foods, an intolerence to milk or wheat or gluten that is rearing its ugly head, or a sensitivity to certain types of meat, or a sensitivity to a certain additive in food (MSG for example).

Look at what she has been eating, and make an appointment with her doctor.
