My 7 year old son is in boy scouts and he loves it. Althought, I found out that The United Way are dropping them as their sponsor because of all the child molestation cases and that makes me very leary at times. He joined the boy scouts at his school, and a lot of the othr parents and faculty are really involved. Not saying that the dads shouldnt be a part of the volunteering, but it really makes me nervous at times, even though women could do the same sick crap to the boys just the same as men. Should I be worried like this?

Up to you to decide. Both my boys did scouts, 12 years combined. Never a problem.

As far as United Way dropping them from their list of sponsored organizations, please cite your sources. They were still on the list when I did my annual contribution last month.

Scouts gave my sons a wonderful base of responsibility, among many other things, and I fully advocate the program!

That's up to you my son is in scouts and the den leader is a woman. My son is also 7 so parent participation in necessary so either myself or his father attend all pack or den meetings. I think stuff like you're talking about could potentially happen anywhere and as parents you just need to be aware. This also isn't the first time scouts have been under scrutiny, an organization I previously worked for wouldn't match employee donations because of their views on homosexuals. Personally I have never seen or heard anything from the pack leaders but it is something to be aware of.
