My son is starting Kindergarten

My son just turned five and is starting Kindergarten next month. I have two school options. The first option is putting him in a fine arts school, the arts program is amazing, but the academics are only average. The second school has extremely high academics, but lacks in the arts department. I am so terrified that I am going to send my son down the wrong path. He has such a creative sole already, but I would never want him to lack academically.

hi sabrina, here in our country kindergarten both take academic and arts program..however it depends on which your child is more interested in, just keep on supporting on your child needs.

what do you mean by average? is it state average, country average - or just average in your opinion? where do you feel your son will flourish the most? IMHO arts are SOOOOO important when a child is in school and they are the most often overlooked, and cut... and also, (in my opinion ) if a child is going to be an academic scholar.. they are going to do so regardless of the school curriculum - they are the ones who are passionate enough about something to search out info on their own.. or read up on it etc... whereas, a lot of children have never had the chance to sing in a choir or pick up and instrument or throw a pot... =) im sure your son will do fine with what ever you choose =)

Personally, I think that they need to have a broad range of skills and background before deciding on a "specific path". My first grader is very good with computer skills but I think he needs the arts and academics to have a more rounded educational experience. Maybe once they get into middle or even high school a more specific path is okay.
