My son loves to talk at school!

My son loves to talk and is in Kindergarden now. His teacher complains everyday on his report that he is talkative and not paying attention. She also complained the other day he was anti-social and talking to himself. I know he is very bright because of his behavior at home so what should I do with these comments. I don't want to stop him being creative and stifle him!

My son is like yours. He also gets up and walks around during class. I've talked to him and explained that while in the classroom he must be quiet and stay in his chair so his classmates can concentrate. That he can talk at recess, and to be respectful of his teacher and classmates so he won't get mistreated, you know, do onto others like you wish to be done onto you (not sure that's how you write that, since English is not my born language). So far, none has work. So I'm as lost as you are. Hope things get better!

I think the teacher is very unprofessional! Has she only provided criticism, and no possible resolutions? Every kid loves to talk. Maybe his teacher's method/s of teaching doesnt provide enough mental stimulation for your boy? You should ask her, or the principal, if he can be assessed for opportunity classes. If they continue to be unhelpful, maybe you should consider another school.
