I am the mother of a 4 year old girl is turns 5 in july and is starting school this september..I began Potty training her at the age of 2. things started off ok but its almost three years later and I am still having trouble getting her to poop in the toilet..Have seen a doctor. was told to give her more green veggies however she refuses to eat them. Have tried reward system with stickers..nothing i have tried seems to work..i talk with her daily about why she should do it in the toliet but then she just has another accident..Kind of going crazy..does anyone have any suggestions on what i could try to get her potty trained before school starts.

Leave her in the mess for at least five minutes so she knows what it is like to be dirty. Make a big fuss of how smelly she is. Give her something called laculose which is a natural laxative found in milk to help her go to the toilet if you can not get her to eat her veggies.

It is time now to tell her off for being dirty this is important for her future development both physically and mentally. If she does this at school she is going to be known as the smelly kid and kids are cruel and unforgiving. Sit her down and tell her straight that she wont have any friends if she continues to be smelly and that mummy is going to be cross with her if she is. She is old enough to understand and you have ruled out any medical condition. She is choosing to do this.

When she does, leave her for at least 5 minutes, make a fuss of cleaning her up and then send her to her room for a few minutes. Go and talk to her again. Ask her why she did not go to the toilet like a big girl. if she knows she is going to get negative results from this then maybe she will stop doing it. I would also be inclined to make her clean herself up if the above does not work, so she knows what a horrible job it is. Ofcourse you are going to need to wash her afterwards but it is worth a try.
