Should I be worried my 5yr. old keeps getting headaches?

My son who is 5, has been complaining that his head hurts off & on I would say for at least the last 2 weeks. I have no clue why he would be having headaches. He does have glasses & has had a recent eye exam, but I don't think that has anything to do with it. When he was a baby he had this rare thing happen while he was in the hospital & his blood pressure sky rocketed. this happened twice while he was there. He was put on blood pressure meds for 6 months & never had another episode again(so he doesn't take the meds anymore). I know the weather here has been kind of crazy too, but I am starting to get worried. any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Even w/o all the health issues, I would say it's worth it to check with a doctor. I wouldn't let yourself get too worried, because sometimes kids say things like that because they are tired or bored and just don't really know how to verbalize what they are feeling. But again, it's definitely worth checking with the doc.

Do you have a way to check his blood presure at home? You may need to get him to a doctor.

My daughter gets headaches when the weather is crazy (so do I) plus, the allergies have been awful all over the place. Sometimes new glasses can cause headaches as well. I started keeping a headache log with my daughter for a while, because when she was about 4 & 5 she got them a lot, but she doesn't seem to get them much now. Use the log, keep it for a few months, then take it to your pediatrician.

just to play it safe I'd see the dr. with previous medical issues you can never be too careful.

as well as the weather, is he getting enough hydration? dehydration can cause headaches and we don't always think about it when its cold (just when its hot).
my youngest gets chinook migraines - absolutely miserable.

Just because he had a recent eye exam does not mean that that is not the cause. He may need to be adjusted, the line of sight in his glasses could be off and that can cause headaches easily.

I think it might be wise to take him to the doctor. If nothing else, it will ease your mind.
