Smart but distracted 10 year old

Hi everyone,
my 10 year old has seen his grades slipping( although still A's and B's mostly) and when i met with his teachers they all seem to have an opinion that he is distracted and interrupts a lot. When I asked him, he said that he sometimes talks to his friend asking for a pencil or they have silly arguments over some silly thing. But his class is only all-boys so there is bound to be an action-reaction sort of thing going on and to some extent even the teachers seem to have a lot less patience when dealing with their class. I have told him not to do this and he swears he won't , but yes, i know he is a little impulsive and talkative and has to be there in the thick of action and have an opinion on everything even if it doesn't concern him. He is always' can I do this, help you with that?' but how do i calm him? He's not like that all the time, there are moments where he is still and all his teachers say he is extremely smart and a quick learner, but lazy. Will he simple grow out of this as he matures?

I'm dealing with a very simliar thing. I think it's a boy thing. Cuz My son who is 10 as well, will whipped threw his work and stuff cuz it's like he's afraid he'll miss something. Then of course it's so sloppy We can't read it.
NO real words of advise but I'm right there with ya.

Sounds to me he is bored. Maybe you should talk to his teacher. Maybe when he finishes his work she can have him something else to do. Maybe he can take a work book in is backpack. When he is done the teacher can let him do that. Maybe read.
