Nathan is 7months and only just starting to learn to sit up himself - where as my daughter was crawling by this age!

My DD didn't crawl at all, just scootched on her butt. Apparently lots of babies do this, although I had never previously met one! IIRC, she started doing that when she was about 9 months, and I think she first sat up on her own at around 7 months.

Don't worry -- there's a wide range of normal! :)

My son is now six and a half but he never crawled as a baby. He learned to roll around the floor and decided that was all he needed to do to get around. He rolled everywhere...lol. Once he learned to pull himself up, he was on the run. Some kids like mine never crawl.

Every child is different, Louise. My granddaughter learned to sit up and crawl the same week! My first daughter didn't crawl at all, she was in a walker and was wheelin' around at 5 mos. Our son was very sickly and could hardly sit up at 11 mos, much less crawl.

As long as he's healthy otherwise, don't stress. He'll start movin' around soon and you'll be saying 'stay put somewhere!' Good luck, God bless, honey!

Our two sons were also much different. The older, now 5 1/2, crawled at about 8 - 9 months and didn't walk until 13 months. The younger was rolling over at a few weeks, crawled at 5 months, and walked at 8 1/2 months. They are all so different - remember that "normal" is a very wide range, especially at the younger ages. "Normal" and "healthy" for crawling is probably anywhere between 5 months to a year. The exact numbers are online somewhere, I'm sure.
