What is your 8-year-old reading? (Looking for book suggestions)

My DD turned 8 in August and is in Grade 3. She's about halfway through Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire. She also likes the Ramona books and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, but has now read all of them. Also comics and graphic novels -- she's pretty into Bone, Archie, DC Kids, Teen Titans ... A couple of years we got to book 4 of the Little House series (Laura Ingalls Wilder), but she bounced off book 5 -- I think Laura's huge jump in age between the two books put her off.

What are your Grade 3 kids reading? I need suggestions! :)

My daughter (just turned nine) brought home Eragon from school yesterday. Up until now she's stuck with Ramona, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle and a few others, but I think she's trying to show me she wants to read what I read. (I have a huge collection of sci-fi and fantasy)
I would try the Lemony Snicket books, anything of Roald Dahl (especially if she liked Charlie and The Chocolate Factory) and The Chronicles of Narnia.

How about Nancy Drew, Little Women, then there is Enid Blyton -- Famous Five plus abridged versions of the classics and Shakespear. That's what I read as a young girl. You could also try Roald Dahl -- he's done some cool books for kids. There's a blog I came across saffrontree.blogspot.com -- it does book reviews for kids' books - might help. Here's to happy reading.
