School Volunteers

Formerly Canteen Volunteers is now known as School Volunteers, for school based activities, but also includes any other similar canteens for children. Eg. Sports clubs, fields, swimming pools and similarly related. In different countries, there are many different names for the service which provides our children with nutritional meals and/or snacks. In Australia, it is called a Canteen, usually operated by parents and funded by the P&C. In New Zealand it is called a Tuck Shop. In the USA it is called a Cafeteria. Wherever you may be and whatever the service may be called, most of them are operated by parents and various volunteers from the school's local community. Some schools have parent volunteers who collect the banking, some donate their time by reading to kids or teaching them about their own experiences. There are many types of volunteers and they each share a different role, this is the community for you.


My Experience So Far...

In Australia, all schools which have a canteen must have a Canteen Manager. This person is someone who has been trained to meet the NSW Health Dept guidelines. It is the canteen...
