Hi, I'm new to this group....

Ok, how does everyone actually find the time to scrapbook? The only time I have these days is when our church has Scrapbooking Fellowship the third Thursday of every month...yes, just once a month :-( I would love to hear some other creative ideas that maybe I could implement in my own life

Thanks!

Bottom line is we are all behind but thats ok cause if we were caught up we couln't scrap right? I have 3 boys the oldest in Kindergarten and the younges is 8 months. I find that if you want it you do it. So make time! I have found a group in my town that likes to scrap 4 or 5 of us and we try to get together once a week. We alternate houses and we have tried it at night and during the day. Both have worked great! they both have their advantages and disadvantages but even if we only got one page done it was one more done than we would have otherwise had so it is awesome! Plus it is fun to scrap with others cause when you get stuck they can often help you out of the mudd!

If you already scrap with a church group then your foundation is set just pick some people from there whose schedules sort of go with yours and don't be afraid to volunteer your house the first few times. Then when others see your fun they will then volunteer too! Good Luck and happy scrapping!

Scrapbooking with kids is tough. I started when my oldest (now 13) was a baby. I have a 7, 8, and 13 year old. It is easier now that they are older, but was tough when they were younger. I found my boys ... yes boys... loved the fact I scrapbooked. They even liked to help me. I would let them sit down and look at pictures or I would put the adhesive on and they would plop it down where I told them. Sometimes they were off, but I could always fix it.

Another thing I did was when I had a few free minutes I would start to organize my ideas. My boys were always active in swim lessons etc. Quite often there are tables set up (or bleachers where you could use the lower seat for a chair and the one infront of you for a table) and I would bring my black bag along with the stuff I organized here and there when I had some time. I was amazed at how much I could get done just by trying to organize when I was home. Hope this helps.

I wish my church had that-I can usually only manage one scrapbooking afternoon every other month.

I have 2 boys, age 1 and 3... so it's tough. I have my scrapping desk set up to the side of the basement "playroom" - really just a safe corner of our unfinished basement with a bunch of toys that are too annoying to be in the living room, also toys they have outgrown or lost interest in. Because the only time they go down there is when I'm working, the toys are all new to them and they play nicely for a pretty long time before they start driving me nuts.

I haven't scrapbooked in months! Part of it is lack of time, the other part is the creative side. Ugh.

Great ideas! Some will work for me...some won't, but I will pass those along to other mom friends of mine in the same challenge :-) Thanks for all the responses!!!

I put a little desk in my scrapbooking room for my daughter (6 years old). For Christmas last year I got her a lot of different paper, stickers and a Cuttlekids machine. She loves to work on her own creations while I scrapbook (and I love to use her Cuttlekids alphabet!).

I include my 3 yr old daughter as well. She loves color and draw so I giver her paper and crayons and let her go crazy. I also like to use her drawings in the scrapbook instead of buying special decorative paper and I think that it adds a more personal touch.

My son is 2 and whenever I pull my supplies out, he decides to stop what ever he was doing so he can "help." Before I got upset because his idea of helping did not really fit with mine. So I got him a cheap little table, and now whenever he wants to help, I give him some cheap stickers and scrap paper, and he sits beside me and works as long as I do. Plus now I have all this extra artwork of his.

I love to scrapbook but have to confess that it has been months, even possibly a year, since last I was able to actually sit and scrap. I still have an empty album waiting on me - haven't put my vacation pics in it yet .... will have too soon, because my daughter keeps using all my stuff and at this rate, I will have to start from scratch wilth supplies! I think your church has a wonderful idea, Kandy. A scrapbooking Fellowship ....

It is hard to find time to scrapbook. My little girl is 7 and I am still doing her toddler album.... and I only did 2 pages for my 18 months old son!!!! I normally scrapbook on the weekend or a Friday night. But I have to agree, 2 kids, job and cleaning.... where do we get time to scrapbook????

I scrapbook on days that I finish cleaning early or I clean the night before than scrap while my kids are at school. I have only started doing this about a week ago, I needed to get back into scrapping. My son is in kindergarten so its a very limited time frame. oh I am a stay at home mom so that makes a difference.

lol, well, i used to do my crafts while bub was asleep, but now that shes 11mnths, thats getting rare, so i let her have playtime in her playpen next to me while i do what i want to, and stop when she starts to get iritable as i want it to be a place associated with fun, not stress, so she wants to be there longer. hope this helps! depending on the age, you could gate off a room so you could keep an eye on them (baby proofed if needed) and do your thing within line of sight/earshot, whatever kiddos old enough for and comfortable with. try a few shortish lots a week and build up as their confidence in their "fun spot" does! and if theyre old enough, crayons, paste and coloured paper work wonders! or you could always put their fave movie on!

If only we had more time to ourselves! I've found that involving your children helps..When I want to get some scrapbooking done I'll set up my son at the table along with me but with some crayons or paints so he can create at the same time. That way he feels involved and I can still get something accomplished.
