Hello Moms,
I'm new to scrapbooking and love the creative outlet. I have a couple of questions though. What is CRICUT? How do you all get ideas about pages and embellishments to use? Thanks for your time.

I own a Cricut and love it! There are endless things to do with it. Sometimes I get my inspiration from going to a craft store, like JoAnn Fabrics, and looking through their craft department. They have little HOW TO DO pages hanging all over. I grab them up and use them to get some ideas on how to be creative. Also, your local library may have some magazines for you to look at too.

Love LOVE LoVe my Cricut!!!  I love it so much, I can't bear to part with it in order to save up for the bigger one, the Cricut Expression!  As for ideas, I peruse lots of blogs!  I also love scrapbook mags, too.

Hi Marla,

A cricut is a die cutting machine. You should go check out their website, there is alot of info there. www.cricut.com they tell you how to use it and have all the products available to look at. I wouldn't purchase it from their site however, you can usually get it cheaper at Michael's or Joann's and as for the cartridges you can get them for $40 on sale. I personally would purchase the Expression but I have the "regular" cricut. I hope that helps with a little more info. on this. GL Michelle

Quoting Liz:

I do not own a cricut, but I own a sizzix and a cuttlebug. I like them both and there are tutorials online on how to use other cutting systems with other system dies.

I get my ideas from magazines, catalogs consultants hand out and at craft stores I use my cell to take pictures of premade pages. Ebay sells large lots of cheap mags for cheap ship rates, nice way to get started.

I also forgot to mention that they have a scrapbooking show on TV called Scrabook Memories...website is www.scrapbookmemoriestv.com

you can find it on the local PBS station or if you are unlucky and your PBS station removed it, I was able to find it on the the BYU tv station on my satellite. Either way you can google it and go from there. Good Luck and you will love SB!!!

You can check your local churches, many of them host a crop once a month or so! It is a lot of fun, and no interuptions! Also, I use scrapbook.com for a lot of my ideas, and I get 2 SB Mag. to get ideas from! Hope this helps!

I don't have a cricut, but went on their website to check out the tutorials which were pretty decent, but I found that the scrapbook store I go to was a much better resource to be able to see and experience it in person with a demonstration. My store even offers a class on it and I plan to take that in the next couple of months as I have the money to buy one. Also, for ideas I love Scrapbooks Etc and other magazines like that, but you can also find a lot of stuff online and of course get great ideas from people at scrapbook get togethers.

www.tvweekly.com has great craft segments and also the scrapbook lounge with all of their episodes having to do with scrapbooking. Very neat.

I havwe a Cricut and it was the BEST thing I have bought for scrapbooking! It's very easy to use and it saves a ton of money on stickers. As for ideas....there are a ton of books out there that have ideas in them or magazines will have diffent lay-out ideas. YOu could also look at your friends scrapbook or go to a scrapbooking classs and ask others to check out there books for me that always helps if I'm having a "scrapers block". Hope this helps!

I got a Cricut Expression for Christmas, and it is just wonderful. I am already saving a bundle on any type of letters and a lot of stickers, because I've just been cutting my own letters and shapes. I am a Stampin' Up! demo, so I have mostly ideas that include stamping in my layouts. A good site to get ideas from, splitcoaststampers.com be careful, its addicting.

I LOVE my Cricut! There are so many creative fonts and embellishments you can have the machine cut for you... it adds so much to your pages! Yeah, it is expensive, but I got mine through the infomercial (lol) and was able to pay monthly. Plus they threw in a couple font cartridges (for a little extra). I know that Michael's has sales on the cartridges. They usually run for $50 and up, but they were on sale for $39.99. I stocked up while I was home because we don't have that store here in Hawaii! It honestly is worth the investment!

I use Creative Memories Idea books and CM magazine for my pages, or I look trough my Mom-in-law's scrapbooks for inspiration and change it to make it my own. I keep my pages pretty simple since I want the pictures to be the main part of my page not the embellishments.

I would love to have a cricuit, but they are expensive. There are other cutting systems too that are less expensive, but not exactly the same. Stampin UP! sells the big shot, which is a cutting system, but it is hand cranked with separate dies that you buy. Very cool though! I get my ideas and inspiration from websites like scrapbook.com, and another website that another mom on here suggested (sorry, I don't remember who!) ... pagemaps.com and BHG puts out a great scrapbook magazine - Scrapbooks, etc. I also my Stampin up! catalog for ideas too!

The Cricut is wonderful for scrapbooking, card making, vinyl lettering, etc. I have had mine for over a year now and love it. There are many types of cartiridges that you can buy to go along with it. There are many websites out there to get ideas from one that I like to go to is scrapbook.com. But you can find many out there and just get ideas from them and then add your own touch to your page. Good luck

I LOVE my CRICUT!!! It is so much fun to play with! I only wish I had more font cartridges!

I have found that the best mags on the market for scrapping ideas are: Creating Keepsakes and Memory Makers! Love these mags, ALOT! Great ideas and inspirations for pages... Creating Keepsakes also has a great website where you can download all kinds of cool stuff... it's at www.CreatingKeepsakes.com, go to the site, then click on "magazines"... Good luck, and Happy Scrappin'!

Hi, I got a CRICUT for Christmas!  It is an awesome machine.  It is great for cutting letters/words and shapes and embellishments.    I also look through magazines and look on-line for other ideas.  I am also a Creative Memories Consultant; check out my site at www.mycmsite.com/amyk33

CRICUT is a cutting tool. I've never used one, but I would LOVE to get one. I get most of my ideas from the pictures themselves. Sometimes I just wander through the scrapbook store and pick up ideas from there.
