I have only been scrapbooking since 2006. I am not the craftyest person and not very many ideas of my own. I love books and magazines to get ideas from, but many of them are pricey. Any suggestions on where to get free or cheap ideas would be great!

I get Creating Keepsakes magazine-about $25/yr and they have a great website that has lots of ideas, tips & tricks, sketches and a gallery of reader layouts. It helps me to have an idea to get started. I don't have the time to scrapbook as elaborately as the magazine contributors, but I can use different elements of the pages to design my own. Welcome to the scrapworld!

I have been scrapping since 2002 and one thing that I learned quickly is that there is nothing cheap about this hobby. As far as cheap ideas goes, there are many websites that you can go on. Just about all of them have a tab to click on that shows layouts that have been submitted. Usually what I do, if I like a particular layout, is to scetch it on paper and then customize it to what my budget allows. For instance, if someone is using metal embellishments (I love them but they are pricey) in their layouts then I may substitute it with a piece of ribbon and a button, or maybe just use a sticker on a color block instead. I know what you mean about sometimes needing motivation or inspiration. I think that even the most professional scrappers are at a loss sometimes. Oh yeah, something else that I do is save the buttons from old clothes that will be thrown away, old birthday or greeting cards, ribbons from gifts, colored paper clips, etc. You will find that alot of things that would otherwise be thrown away can sometimes be used in your layouts. I hope any of these ideas will help. Happy Scrappin!!!
