Who has the time?

I enjoy scrapbooking, but rarely have found any time over the past year since my son was born to fit it into my schedule. How do you find time to scrapbook? I don't have any one place to keep it out to work on as I have time. I have to take it out and put it away each time...which adds to the amount of time I need to even try to work on any scrapbooking. Any suggestions?

Ooh, Jennifer, yeah, Creative Memories sells the Power Layouts system to do what you are talking about thinking up on your own! you must be pretty smart...or maybe they heard your idea and copied you...

I'm kind of sad to hear that your kids are big and you still don't have time. I've been telling myself that I just have to get the kids a bit older and I'll be able to finish the paper albums I have partly finished... :-(

I can totally feel your pain! My kids are 9 and 6 and I keep adding to the photos, but can't seem to get any pages done. I used to do my scrapbooking at my dining room table (which wasn't easy with 2 kids and 2 cats always moving things). I finally have a scrapbooking room, but alas, am not able to spend time up there.

I purchased 12 x 12 plastic containers to keep my "pages" in order. They work great when you are in the middle of something and need to put it away, but don't want to loose your ideas, etc. I would put my papers, photos, etc. with the actual page and just layer them on top of each other. I would also write notes/comments to remember the day and what my idea was. Plus, you can take the container you need out and leave the others put away.

I think I purchased them from LTD Commodities, but I'm sure you can find them pretty much anywhere.

After kid 1, it was hard to find time to scrapbook, after kid 2, it was impossible, but I know a lady with 11 kids who keeps up no problem. She's amazing though and homeschools all of them too. Since I'm not that amazing but still want to keep my pictures and stories organized, I've switched to Digital Scrapbooking. Creative Memories has a program called StoryBook Creator 2.0 PLUS that is really easy to use. You do everything just like in normal scrapbooking, except all the papers, embellishments, etc are on the computer, so you don't have to keep your toddler out of the paper mess, just off your lap, off the keyboard, etc.

I loved storybook creator before, but this weekend I figured out that you can buy (or find free) papers, embellishments, etc, all over the internet.

Then you can get your pages printed into a book or get individual page prints. earlier this year I was 2 years behind, and now I'm almost done with 2007 and almost caught up with 2008. I take my husband's laptop on car trips and lay out pages while I am the passenger. What a GREAT use of time on long trips!
