My daughter hasn't started solids yet, but is going to shortly (next week) She takes the formula 5 times per day. 2 7oz bottles (one in the am and last bottle) and the 3 other bottles are 6 oz. She is so chubby. Is she going to get even bigger once she starts the cereal? Will she still drink as much formula?

My lil gal is the same way.  I've started her on cereal in a bottle (I limit it to one a day...she has not master eating with a spoon yet).  Actually her feedings have slowed down once I started her on rice...doc says the same a some ladies below.  Once she starts becoming more active she will thin out.  I would rather have a cute little chunky baby then a skinny lanky one.  They are healthy, we are blessed.  She is in the 97th % of her class and the 95 for her height...doc. said her baby girls were the same way and she is not worried at all.  ;-)  No worries!!

My baby weighs at least 18 or 19 lbs, he'll be 17 weeks on Wednesday. He eats solids, has been for about 2 weeks now. He is in the 90th percentile in height and weight I think. Anyway my older son was on the same growth path and he is now 5 and totally healthy and slim. She'll be fine no worries. ; -)

Lol, thanks Amanda! I thought there was something wrong with my little man!! But he's just VERY healthy! I'm definately not scared of breaking him. He's solid!!! He hasn't been sick yet and laughs and talks to himself all the time. Kai was born at 8lbs5oz. Growing like a weed! I kind of miss my little guy :( Oh well

Hey...My little boy is 4 months and weighs 24 pounds...He's HUGE! (long as well as chubby!) We started him on solids a few weeks ago because formula just wasn't cutting it anymore. I find that he doesn't drink as much formula with the solids, but we only feed him solids once a day. He usually drinks 6 bottles a day at 8oz each bottle. He's a little porker! He is a strong little guy though, almost sitting up on his own already and standing straight and tall with a little help from mommy!!

My daughter is pretty much eating the same as yours. She just turned 4 months on the 11th and is 15.5 lbs. All three of my babies were chunky! She was downing those bottles like crazy (6 ounces in five minutes or less!). She will go for about three to four hours between feedings. We started giving here just a tiney bit of rice cereal (in the evening) to sustain her. She sleeps the entire night and seems to be doing ok. I was always told that a baby knows when they are hungry and will stop when they are not. As soon as my other two started to really move around, they thinned down a bit. They are very healthy and have no weight problems.

My son is 4 months old today and he weighs 19 pounds. I have been putting oatmeal in his formula for about 2 months now. Doctor says he is as healthy as can be. I think a chubby baby is a happy baby. I think once you start her on cereal she wont eat as much as she does now because the cereal will fill her up for a longer period of time. Talk to your pediatrician about your concerns if you get to worried. After all they are the professionals, but MOM ALWAYS knows BEST for her children.

My son was born on Sept 6th and he was eatting 8oz bottle's every 4 hours. he is also very chubby. I think he is around 18 to 19 lbs. I just stated him on food. We are giving him half a cup of cerealfor breakfast and half a jar of baby food then half a jar of fruit for lunch and dinner. He is not eatting as much formula but he is still getting 3 bottles a day. They are all going to get bigger but I don't think it will be as fast. Once they start moving around more it will just fall off of them. So not to worry

I also don't think that you need to worry my son is around that weight as well and he is always hungry. I started him on the rice cereal but he seemed to have problems digesting it so I layed off for a while but I am interested to hear how your little girl does on it once she starts and what brand you decide to use.

My son will be 4 months on the 18th and he went from eating 6 oz/bottle every 3 hours to eating 7 oz every 3 hrs up to 35 0z (5 bottles total).  He was at 35 oz for a while and I think that was b/c he went through a growth spurt.  He just started to level off so I just started this week with stretching out to every 4 hours of feeding him and he's been doing ok.  He ate his last bottle last night at 6:30 and went to sleep for the night at 9.  I figured if he was hungry he would wake up, but he didn't.

As long as the doctor says everything is okay, I wouldn't worry about it.

We just had our 4 month check up yesterday and Mack is almost 18 pounds!  He was 5 weeks early and only weight a little over 5 pounds, so he has grown so much!  They said he's in the 90th percentile for weight.  He is only breast feeding, so I don't have any experience with formula.  I'd say as long as your pediatrician is okay with the growth, then just go with it.  I love big chunky babies!!!  PLUS... just a question, is your husband a big guy?  My husband is a really big guy, so that might have something to do with it.

My lil girl is 14.9, so I understand how you feel. Hang in there, I hear they do lose the weight once they start crawling and walking, and growing taller too.

Ha ha! Girl I am on the same boat! My son just turned 4 months Sunday and he's over 17lbs. He's a little chunky monkey. He eats 6-8 oz each feeding and I have to put a tsp.of rice cereal per oz. b/c of his acid reflux. I started him on rice cereal and so far he has done an ok job with eating it. His pediatrician says theres nothing wrong with him, he isn't overweight or anything. I would say, as long as your Pedi says everything's alright, I wouldn't worry :) I hope this helps your concern.

My nephew was 12 pounds when he was born and weighed even more than your daughter at his 4 month mark so do not worry about her weight unless the doctor see signs of something else. She probably will gain even more weight on solids and not drink quitt as much but not significantly less. Once she starts crawling she will lose a lot of her chubbiness. She is beautiul so just smile and you know what is best so just trust yourself!
