Does anyone have a bumbo? I have just ordered one and then read some really bad reviews about babies falling over and getting hurt while trying to climb out!!! What experiences have you had with your bumbo?

love mine. my 5 1/2 month old uses his at least 3x a day. he's been in it since 3 mos and loves to watch me while cooking in the kitchen or while eating supper with us, he's on the table, or when he's getting his cereal, he'll be on the coffee table. he's always within sight and reach.
read the warnings and make sure you use it safely and i'm sure your baby will enjoy it as well.
watch for cues that baby wants out, arching the back or leaning forward. if you take them out when they are done they will enjoy going back in vs leaving a child in crying and upset, they will then resent it.
good luck! i hope your baby enjoys the seat

I don't like mine, my baby had very chunky thighs that get squished in the chair. When I try to pick him up out of it the chair stays stuck. Very uncomfortable for him.

i think that is a load of rubbish lol. my son had a bumbo chair and it is impossible for a baby to get out of them however much they try. my 6 month old daughter uses one at the monant and loves it. as long as they can support there own head then there shouldnt be a problam.

i thought it was a great idea.  i bought one and loved it the first day i had my son in it.  he was in a new position, he could interact with us better, i just thought it was great.  by day three i wasn't a fan anymore.  yeah he could see us, but he wouldn't move.  his hands stayed in the same position the whole time and he just looked so uncomfortable.  when he wasn't in it he was very interactive but as soon as we put him in it he would just go immobile.  some people really like it, but it wasn't for us

My baby loves his! We use it during feeding time, and when he gets tired of laying down, I sit him in his little bumbo and he chills with me. I play patty-cake games with him, or I'll give him an interesting toy to play with as he sits...no problems!

When you get the box, it gives you warnings...the Bumbo doesn't have straps. Its meant to support a baby in sitting up by themselves, not to be a safety seat, which means they need supervision. Never put them on an elevated surface, because all they have to do is arch their back and do a little turn and they are out.

Enjoy it, and good luck!

They now make a tray that snaps on to the front of the chair. I notice that it makes her sit back a little. It's not strong enough to hold her in, but it deters her from trying to get out. Plus I suction cup toys to it and she loves it!

my son loves his...I've never had a problem with him in it, but when he was little he had a harder time holding himself up and would lean forward it in...but he didn't ever fall out or tip it over.

i have one.. she liked it but now hardly uses it.. they are really good idea.. yes babys can get out of them.. but if they are watched and not left alone then you will see if baby is wriggling free..

i returned my bumbo seat & bought the "superseat" & my son loves it! he never tries to arch his back out of it & i'm not worried about him falling out of it since there it a tray that "locks" him in & a belt to keep him safely inside. the tray spins and come with toys that keep him entertained. he never gets upset like he did in the bumbo & for the price of the bumbo & tray you can get a superseat that will last alot longer than a bumbo.....it turns into a booster seat later. good luck!

My son uses his bumbo. i too used it as a temporary high chair. he will sit and play in it now but only for a little while. its great for travel to, it means u dont have to cart a high chair round with u. but im glad im not the only one who has problems with their child trying to arch their way out of it!! u just have to keep a close eye on them!!

they are great. It helped my son strengthen his head a lot quicker. As with every device for babies keep an eye on them and limit the time in them but otherwise it is a great tool for their little spines and necks. It helps their posture and is actually reccomended by a lot of peads. Makes a great highchair if you can get down low and feed with them on the floor.

My baby will sit in it for a little while, but her attention span with it is really short (she doesn't like it for long). I have not had issues with her getting hurt, but I always stay with her when she is in it.

You are going to love the bumbo!!! I wish I had it for Ava too... Keep it in a safe place while Dillon is in it. I had to keep it close to the ground in case Alex tipped it. I also kept close eye on her so if she seemed more squirmy than usual I removed her from it.

From a developmental standpoint it teaches babies to sit up before they have developed the muscles to sit on their own... so they enjoy the upright position but can't perform it on their own, leads to a lot of frustration. I returned the one I received as a gift... used to be an infant teacher in a daycare and we could tell the babies that had bumbo's, they wanted to sit so bad but couldn't and would get really mad when we put them on the floor to play.

I have the superseat too, I like it because I can strap my son in, and it has the 360 tray that I can put all kinds of toys on to keep him busy.  I also liked that it was rated to 30 pounds because he is a big boy and will be too heavy for saucers and bouncy seats in just a few weeks.  The base of it also flares out slightly to help keep it from tipping over as easily

So I purchased a different one, it looks like a bumbo but its a superseat.... same function as bumbo and a lot more like, 360 spinning tray with toys, soft cushion, 3-in-1 good til 4 yrs. safe too....not expensive.. i hope it helps. thanks.

My son loves his. He was also in it early.... by 2 months. He likes when i put toys on the tray for him to play with. He likes to sit up and watch what is going on around him and his bumbo is great for that. He is almost sitting all by himself and I probably won't need it much longer but for now he loves it!

My son loves his.  And he's learnign to sit on his own as well.  I think the key is nto to use it only.  But I love to use it now as a means for feeding him.  I will put him on a raised surface to feed him, btu be with him the whole time so that if he tries to get out or arch his back he will not fall over.  I love it and he loves it!!!!

I have one, but I don't use it anymore.  Ruan pulls his body straight the moment I put him in the chair and I am scared that he will fall out.  We used it as a feeding chair for the first month on solid foods, but have since bought a proper high chair.  I now keep it in the car to use for feedings when we are out and about.

Save your money for a chair you can use for longer.

I've had mine for only a few weeks and I don't I will be able to use it much longet. My son(5 months) will only tolerate it for 5-10 max and then will begin to arch his back or lean over far enough to almost get out of it...Its good if you need a few minutes but for me not much else...

I'm using a Bumbo for the first time with my fourth child. I can see how a baby could get out of the seat by arching themselves out. My daughter really likes to sit in her bumbo. She likes to be able to see what her brothers and sister are up to. As long as she is on the ground and not up on a table or anything I feel she is totally safe in it. You can pick up a Bumbo for about 30 dollars at Once Apon A Child.

My kids hate the Bumbo seat. i don't think they like the way it makes them sit.

[deleted account]

We don't have a bumbo and have heard from some people that that they're not good because they limit babies learning how to sit up on their own. Has anyone else heard this and have you had any experience related to it? We're still not sure if we should get one.

My son hated it, we put him in it and he nearly bucked himself right out. It was given to us so we didnt spend any money on it, just stay close and keep a good eye on your baby while there in it.

My daughter pushed herself out of hers the day we got it so I returned it to the store...in hindsight it was a good thing as I spent more time helping her to sit and now, at just 5 months she is sitting by herself!!

Ava loves her, we take it every where we go. I feed her in it, and get so many comments about it. I give it 10 out of 10

We used it when my son was younger, now that he's sitting in a high chair, we don't use it anymore because when he sits in his bumbo, he arches and rocks back and forth.  It will tip, but we take him out before he does that.  Just keep an eye on your baby, it's not a seat to put them in and leave the room.  We only use it now for feeding dinner, if my hubby and I are eating in the living room - special occasions. :)

My girl love, love, loves hers.  We have been using it since about 2 1/2 months old.  She doesn't like to lay down and has to be looking at everything.  I always have my eyes on her at all times when she is in it.  Head the warning on the side of it and it'll be great!

My daughter likes her bumbo but for no more than 10 minutes. Right now I am using it to feed her since we started solids and she is too small for the high chair. The drawbacks are that the seat has a short life. Once she can seat by herself on the floor, I doubt she will like the bumbo anymore; the other problem is that she figured out that if she pushes one leg and arches her back she will probably get out. I have never let her alone with the bumbo. but if I did, I think she could have an accident! and she uses disposibles. Overall, I like it. It frees my hands for a few minutes, helps with babies who have flat heads, and helps with neck control.

My daughter has been using hers since she was 2 months old.  She wears cloth diapers so she fills out the entire seat and that allows her to push herself out if she arches her back.  I have used it with other infants who wear disposable diapers and I have never had a problem.

I love mine but my baby is still not at the stage of crawling out. I have read the bad reviews also and I think that the baby was elevated or not being watched.

My 4 month old loves hers and my neighbor has one too but her son arches his back alot and i can see where it could tip over if he was flipping out in it, but i put her in it and watch her and play with her and if she starts to cry i take her out, so i think that as long as you are keeping an eye on your baby while they are in it, you are fine (which anyone would be anyway i would think since there arent any straps or anything). its good for teaching them to use their neck muscles before they can sit up on their own.

My baby has loved hers, I started her in it really early around 1.5 months. The key to babies falling over etc is to keep a close eye on them and don't put it on an elevated surface, EVER. It has helped her with hand eye coordination because I have the tray attachment and can put toys on it. I even used it as a temp high chair before I got one and it worked well. If your baby seems uninterested in being in the Bumbo than take them out. Like the other day I had Shelby (5 months) in there and she started to arch her back like she didn't want to be in there so I took her out. She probably would have gotten herself out if I wasn't paying attention. Good luck
