My little boy has A LOT of hair. It is thick and long. I have noticed just this last week that his scalp is really dry and peeling. The skin around the nails on his fingers and toes peeled when he was 2 or 3 weeks old but went away in about a week. His scalp started peeling about 10 days ago. It seems to be getting worse. If he were bald, I would just scrub the skin off with the baby bath brush and put baby oil on his head. With all this hair, though, I can't really lotion it, etc. I only wash his hair every other day (so as not to dry it out) but rub his scalp well. What should I do? Should I use conditioner? My three older boys all had this much hair, but never had this problem this bad or for this long.

My baby got really flaky too, but it was at the same time the rest of him was peeling. My doctor actually had me use a tiny bit of Cortisone on his head. Between that (which made me nervous since it's a steroid), and washing/brushing it out twice a week, it was gone with a few weeks. Congrats on all the hair! :D

My little girl's scalp is not has dry now that I have started using Aquafor's baby shampoo. It has a moisterizer in it and is fragrance free.

I wondered if it was too often and have gone to every 3rd or 4th day... think that is still to often?

Hi, my boy also has hair on his head and dry scalp - my doctor mentioned it would eventually go away, but in the meantime you can also use mineral oil. Every other day shampooing might be too frequent(?) and contributing to the dryness. Enjoy him!

you can use olive oil and it will help wash his hair in it when you give him a bath and it will come out. My son has the same problem he has alot of hair i comb his hair first then i wash with the olive oil and so far so good
