I know how you feel, I am a single parent with only one child and I worry so much!  I got home from work and he wasn't here when I got home, was down the local skate park with his friends.  Usually he know's to be home by the time it starts to get dark, but he lost track of time and got home a little late.  I had a bit of a go at him and then promptly burst into tears!  I'm getting better at letting him do things, but it's hard.  We know what's out there, they have no fear (whilst we carry all the fears for them).  Maybe try lettng them do little things and notfor very long that would usually freak you out and see how they get on.  Explain to them that you are trying, but need them to be resposible and not make you worry unnecessarily.  Do they mobile phones?  If they do, just impress upon them that they have to let you know where they are, who they are with and what they are doing.  If you don't like the sound of it, tell you would rather they were at home, but can bring someone with them (so, they don't feel as though they are being summoned back home) and (if not a schol night) order pizza and have a sleepover or something....a treat for coming home.

Hope this helps a little!
