I have two kids; a 2-year old boy and a 5-year-old girl. My kids are starting to have worse anger problems (hitting, lashing out, biting, thowing toys, screaming, etc...) since my husband and I divorced (been seperated since Sept 2008). The kids and I have been trying to get through the divorce as a family, and they are getting normal to more attention from me, but they are still lashing out. My husband was verbally abusive and sometimes physically abusive (only to me not the kids) but their anger has only showed itself like this since daddy hasn't lived with us. He is getting re-married to a woman with a 3-year-old, but since he rarely sees them I don't think it is that. I honestly don't know. I've tried time-outs, secluded play, taking toys away, even spankings... It's like they just don't care. I've always been consistent with punishments and expectations/rules for both of them, I just don't know what to try anymore to keep the peace. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

I've had the same problem with my 2 youngest daughters, their dad used to be physically abusive to me. They got worse when I got rid of him, now they have started getting a whole lot better. Kids think if an adult hits it's ok for them to do it too, I just told them how much they hurt and upset mummy and they slowly started to calm down. I'm not saying this will work for you but dotry to talk to them about it, kids are wonderful when they think you are talking to them like they are big boys and girls.
I hope you all manage to get through this, big hugs to you.
