how do i convince my son not to go to the prom without a date?

Why don't you want him to go? Prom is a great memory for the high school years - you don't need a date to go. Encourage him to go and encourage him to have the best time. His friends will be there and he'll have people to dance with - it's all about the fun and memories, not whether or not he takes a date.

Hey! Alot of young men prefer going solo. Leaving their options open. Not dealing with the drama that teen girls can bring. Don't force it. Enjoy this time....let him enjoy it...these are fun times!!

I agree with the other moms, why push him to have a date why can he not go solo. I would be proud of him to be focused on school and not dating. Be proud he does not fall into the stereo types, or have to fallow his peers. He is secure in who he is and does not need to prove anything to anyone by taking a date.
Congrats on his graduation.

I agree. There's too much pressure these days on teens and dating anyway. I would be proud of him for being willing to go to Prom alone...alot of kids would just stay home! There's plenty of future dating opportunities... let him just have fun (and save money too! LOL)

Why does he have to have a date? Prom is about celebrating graduation I think people get too hung up on the date part, maybe he just wants to have fun with his friends or isn't interested in girls that much yet. The majority of my classmates went solo and spent the evening with their group of friends, not that it means anything but most of my friends who went to prom alone waited until college to start dating people and got a lot more schooling done before getting involved in the whole dating scene. Best of luck with you and congratulations on your sons graduation :)
