I was at McDonald's the other day with my kids (4 and 5 years old) and I gave them money to buy cookies. I encourage my children to be as independent as possible, so I stood back a few feet and let them stand in line and order their own cookies. It was their turn and the staff looked at them and didn't speak. My daughter spoke up and said, "can we have some cookies, please?" She had her money in her hand visible to everyone. Just then, some man stepped up to the counter and started to order. The staff person turned and began to take HIS order. I stepped up and said, "What? So, kids don't matter at McDonalds? They have money and were trying to order some cookies and you just ignored them!" The man rolled his eyes and the staff continued taking his order. That just burned me up! Kids are people too!

I would be mad to, I have my kids do the same thing. It is a great way to learn the value of money, math and dealing with others. Unfortuantely yours had to learn how rude people can be.

I would have taken the matter up with the store manager. they are supposed to treat any customer with respect.

I agree with you!!!! It is sad how we try to do things to help them become independent and they get ignored. You have every reason to be pissed.
