Ok. First of all, I'd say from my own experiences, you are pretty lucky. He is simply testing his boundaries with you. Seeing what he can get away with; how far he can push his luck. Be consistent in your "rules" on what is acceptable and what is not. Give one warning before reprimanding, eg; He takes another child's play toy away at the park. 1) You can state the rule, "We do not take others belongings without asking."  2) Then give one warning, "Please gIve that toy back or we will have to go home." 3) If he chooses not to obey, follow through with your warning and take him home no matter if after a few minutes he then gives back the toy. Or, if he does obey your rule and gives the toy back, show a look of great happiness on your face and praise him for being a good boy and listening to you and you can tell him how happy it makes you feel when he does so. A big hug will also go along way.

I actually had to take my son to a behaviour specialist at 3yrs old because of his acting out. He would take advantage of 10sec alone to literally DESTROY whatever he could get into! I would run to the bathroom for a quick "empty" and he would have been into the refridgerator emptying a bottle of ketchup onto the carpet for example. I soon put child-safety locks on all of the cupboards but he no sooner discovered what a handy substitue bodily fluids made!

I've been through defiance at it's worst, so please don't hesitate to ask me anything!!! Good luck!

Sounds like a normal 3 year old boy to me! You might want to be more specific regarding the problems your having with him. Defiance is "the way" of a 3 year old I'm afraid. Terrible Twos are highly overated.
