My 6 yr old still wakes in the very early a.m hungry and scared, what can I do to stop this?

Give her a high protein snack before bedtime (protein keeps you full longer). I had good luck playing very soft music. I played classical, nature sounds, and enya and put it on repeat in my kids room. My kids always sleep better with soft music playing.

My advice would be to just be there for her and comfort her! The more secure in your presence she feels and knowing that you will be there for her if she is scared and upset will help her sleep better.
