We have been to 3 doctors and all they told me..that he has a condition that he only poops at home or somewhere where he is aware of and he knows the area. We have tired Mirlax everyday and he still does it because the school restroom scares him and he thinks it is dirty so he will not go, he will release just enough to stop the pressure. Help!!! what can I do.

Oh, wow.. I do remember my kids having issues like that when they felt that playing was more important than using the bathroom and would have accidents, but nothing to the degree that you mention. I really wish I could share more info with you. I can definitely see how this could be frustrating for you. Wish I had more to say or offer.

Hi Deshell,

I have been to a psychologist also and she told me that he is fine, he just needs to get over the fact that some restroooms will not be as clean and his family or friends. She did suggest to me that to see if I can have his principle to set up her restroom like it is at home. She went out her way to do that for him and me and it worked for a bit but we also found out that when he is playing and he feels the pressure he will not stop and go poop he will release enough to stop the pressure and he will be like this until he gets home. This drives me insane!!!!!!!! So now I turn to my mothers who are in my circle. If you have any suggestions please share with me. See Deshell he is something like me I will not use the restroom at work at all!!! When I was in grade school I trained my kidneys and my mind not to think about a potty break and I still continue the cycle. So I think I past it to my kids. My oldest grew out of it when he was 6 now Nick is just taking a little bit to long for me. Once again any suggestions would help me.

Thanks to both :~)

Gosh, I am sorry to hear that you are having this problem. I can definitely relate as an adult about the public/school restrooms. I despise them and always hope that my kids don't have to use them or me for that matter. I agree with Suz(below) there must be some underlying situation or reason that may need to be dealt with first before he can deal with what sounds like fear or some type of phobia... Poor guy.

hi Nikki,

Wow, i'm sorry, that must drive you nuts. ;(

Have you taken him to a child psychologist yet? It seems that until he gets over the mental/emotional part, the physical will remain the same. good luck.
