My son rarely sees his father, he used to ask if he was going to Daddy's, if Daddy hadn't been in touch, I used to say that he must be busy and suggest he ask what Daddy was doing next time he sees him..... It has now got to the stage where on the rare occasion that his father does ask to see him, my son makes his own mind up, and generally the answer is no I don't want to see Daddy.

Sometimes we see them not coming around as a big disappointment, but on the other hand you have dads who do come around but are useless and only cause more drama and problems then if they just stayed away. As far as your daughter goes and what to say, you say the truth. I mean you don't go into details but it is not your responsibility to make excuses for him anymore. You interests are with your daughter now and your daughter alone. So if he is not coming around and your daughter is asking why tell you that you love her and your sorry her daddy is not coming to see her and maybe next time she sees her daddy she can ask him why. I just know for myself I made excuses after excuses why and for what..to make him look better? It is your job to love your baby with all your heart and as her father it is his job to answer the questions not yours. So just keep showing her you are the constant in her life, you are there for her no matter what and you love her. As your daughter gets older she will see on her own and there is no need for you to explain anything to her just to love her.

Hope that helps..good luck

honesty is always best!! tell her daddy must be too busy. maybe she could try calling & leave a msg?? that puts the responsibility on him- not you. if you lie for him & get caught it will be your fault. when she says "i wish daddy was here" answer with "I know sweet pea. I do too, and I'm sorry. Mama is always here for you". she will come to understand soon enough. (my kids dad died by suicide last year- I told them the truth and we got through it together- they were 5 & 10. I am soo glad I was honest. my relationship with them is amazing!)
