My daughter will be 7 next month. We have been on our own since she was 2. While I did not get along with her father when we were togather, I look at some of the posts here and am reminded just how lucky we are. He sends child support on time, every month. Though he lives half way across the country, they see each other at least 3 times a year and talk on the phone constantly.

When we parted, we took the time to talk about how we could do it as amicably as possible. We decided we both wanted to be there for the good times and the bad. He has never missed a birthday, gets every other christmas and when he cant have christmas, he takes her for the week after it. He flew in overnight when her dog died.

I think the best thing though is not how he is with her as much as his mother is. his mom is the main babysitter, and my daughters dearest friend. Just as much she is my friend as well.

Sorry if Im bragging, but I want people to realise that sometimes it can be done

You are very fortunate and lucky to have a such a pleasant divorce situation. Unfortunatly not all divorces (or fathers) turn out that way. Be very thankful for your situation and it is ok to brag about it! To bad those who do have a terrible situation (including myself) couldn't have someone like you to brag about your situation to the dead beat dads that are out there. (can I give you my ex husbands number??? LOL)

I think it is terrfic that your daughter has her father in her life as much as possible. You are not bragging it is nice to hear that some dads can be real men and support their children.
