I have a 4 year old daughter who still sleeps with me. I think she is old enough to be in her own room and I have tried the crib, a toddler bed (decorated as Lighting McQueen) and now a single twin bed all decorated with pretty bedding of her choosing. She will not go to sleep in there, she falls asleep in my bed and I move her she will stay, but she will not start out going to sleep in there. I have tried laying with her, letting her watch a movie to fall asleep to in her bed, night lights and just about all I could to do..now what...any suggestions?

I found that i kept putting my child back in her bed and there were times she would come out of the room at least 15 times a night.I never gave in and i was consistant every night and after about 2 weeks she was in her own bed and sleeps there and the only time she comes to my bed is a bad dream and ill sooth her back to her own bed and shell fall back to sleep. Its a habit more than anything but if u keep saying no they see u are not giving in.u will see the difference..good luck

How about having a close friend of hers spend the night. A little sleep over with a friend may help. Although 4 years old may be a little young for a sleep over but if the other child's mom is alright with it, it may be worth a try. You could do some girl things, like paint their nails, snack on popcorn, do a movie, girly stuff.

My little girl "belle" is a little over two months and she has been amazing at sleeping through out the night. she sleeps with me most days because I cant stand being away from her. I worry that she may one day give me simular problems. I have a younger brother (4 years old)that lived on the living room couch he now has a room of his own and is scared. I would go up every night and read to him. I in the beginning had problems because he picked the books... but now I read to him the novels I'm reading and he is out before a few pages. "try reading lol"

OMG, I'm going through the same thing. Gabby is 2 years and 8 months old. I'm up at 5:00 am every morning to get ready for work and then I'm out for 12 hours. The guilt is what does it for me. I don't spend enough time with her and when I do I'm so tired. She goes with her dad every weekend.  That meant that I had to sleep with Gabby just to make up for lost time and  bond with her. But the sleepless nights are getting to me.

I have tried that and it breaks my heart hearing her cry for hours...should I just stand tough?

Hi, i used to have that same problem, so my cousin suggested staying in my sons room until he falls asleep instead of him falling asleep in my room, i did it couple of mths watching cartoons or reading. IT WORKED!!!!
