What books has anybody read regarding sleep training and what methods are you using? I have read Dr Sears "The Baby Book" , Elizabeth Pantley's "No Cry Sleep Solution" and "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child". Obviously these books are very different from each other with different methods, so I am trying to weed through them and decide which methods to try. So far I have only used the gentle "no cry" methods, but without much success. But my daughter is only four months old so I know I can't expect miracles. She currently wakes every 1-2 hours all night long and won't return to sleep without nursing. Anybody else struggling through the vastly different information available and trying to decide what to do? It doesn't help that my brain is fried from sleep deprivation!!

I am trying the No Cry Sleep Solution and am on week 4.
At 8 months old he was waking up every 1.5 hours on the longest stretch and needed the boob to sleep. Wouldent take any soother. Wouldent use a bottle.
Now he usually wakes up 3 times a night and that I can handle. But now he's sick and has been back at the every 1.5 hour thing I could just cry... ok I did. I think it just sucks when you finally have hope and bam I'm back at no sleep till he's better... I hope.
Anyway its a good book but you need to put in the time for the no cry method. Its not s fast as crying it out but for me it's been worth it!

I used Babywise. I have a 2 year old and an 8 wk old. The 2 year old was sleeping through the night (8hrs) by 11wks. By six months she went down for naps and bedtime without a tear. She still goes right down and she's in a big girl bed and I've never had to worry about her getting up. When its bedtime she's tired and she goes to sleep. She also wakes up like clockwork, I haven't needed an alarm clock. My 8wk old is starting to sleep through the night, but isn't doing in every night yet. I highly recommend it, although I do think I tweaked it a little for what works for us. :-)

I might be responding this too late for you, but I have tried Tracy Hogg's "The Secrets of the Baby Whisperer" since my daughter was 8 weeks old and it has been a life saver. I won't lie that I have to tweak her sleeping schedule at times, but we get back on track, and she is a great sleeper. Good luck!

Hi Lisa,

I just read T H E S L E E P S E N S E P R O G R A M by Dana Obleman. I want to read On Becoming Babywise and compare. I am in the same boat as you, but I am also a co-cleeper. My son is four months today and I am ready for some well deserved sleep of my own. I'll let you know what i find out:)
