Alright...call us insane but the Spring sports season is upon us. We have three boys and they are each out for two sports. Anyone have good on-the-go meal ideas? Something quick and healthy. Something made ahead of time. Anything. Thanks

You could do a couple of casseroles ahead of time & freeze them for the week, so when they get home they have a choice.....also, I like potroast hoagies... put pot roast in the slow cooker & it will be done when you get home. I usually toast my hoagie bun & fill it w/ pot roast, swiss cheese or gouda(melt), & thinly sliced red onion & dip in au jous. a simple green salad on the side & you're good to go!

Chili in the crock pot is always fast & easy when you need a quick meal. Add rolls or bread & salad...it can stay warm for the stragglers too

my fav on the go meal is crock pot chicken. I'll throw the chicken in the crock in the morning, cover it with BBQ sauce (or salsa) and by 4 pm dinner is done. We eat between 4:30 and 5pm. I also love the pre peeled potatoes that you just throw into the microwave for about 10 minutes, we do a quick veggie and dinner is done! I'll throw snack items into my tote bag (in the morning..that way I don't forget as we are heading out the door).

Taco are a good meal it's 15 min and the lettuce , tomatoe ect. are fresh and can be cut ahead of time.. My boys love it, so it doesn't take me long to get them to eat so we can go

slow cook pork chops with chopped onions, chopped celery, cream of celery soup and water. I put them on low for 4-6 hrs (give or take). my kids (4 of them) love it and it stays nice and warm as people come and go in this house. Can't always sit down and eat at the same time... so I just make biscuits, put out the plates, and make a salade. very easy.

I am so glad you posted this question! I am a mother of seven (five boys & two girls) & all of our kids play sports year round (& dance). But regardless of all the sports they play Baseball season seem to be the worst. I have found that no matter what I pack to take with us to the ball field, they are always staving when we get home. So, now I pack "snacks" for the field (like fruits & veggies, granola bars, waters & juices). And then when we get home, I have a slow cooker & I make sloppy Joes, BBQ Roastbeef Sandwiches, Hot dogs, Chilli, & Roasts. Casseroles are a good thing too, but the only thing I don't like about them is, I never seem to time it right. & my kids are not big on them. Hamburgers work well & don't take that much time to grill when we get home. I always try to have protein, & some type of vegetable with every meal. Especially with growing, active boys. I am exited as well to here other parents ideas & what works for them. Good luck
