11 month old refuses to use a sippy cup.

My son uses Playtex Drop-ins bottles. Which as another Mom put, it........ is a bottle which a baby can get liquid out of no matter what angle they are sitting or laying while using. So now we have been trying for the past 3 months to teach my son how to use a sippy cup. He will put it in his mouth and when he doesn't get anything out of it he throws it on the floor. He doesn't get that he has to either lift the cup higher or tilt his head back to get the liquid out. We are getting frustrated because we have tried so many brands. He will be a year old in about 3 weeks and we would like to stop the bottle as soon as possible after that. Has anyone else out there had a similar problem? Any suggestions?

Some kids just take longer to get the hang of it. My daughter didn't understand how to use it until she was 14 months old and we started trying when she was 9 months old. So she had a bottle for 2 months after she was one. There is no magic change just because a baby turns one. If he's having trouble, just breath. Keep offering it, but keep in mind it all babies do things at different times. And that's okay.

I had that problem, keep offering a cup they do eventually get it. Stat with soft spout cups, cups with straws, even take out the plug until they get a better hang of it. My son refuses milk if it's not heated up, i refuse to heat once he was off the bottle (at 1 year, 1 week). Now he no longer drinks milk which the doc says is ok, try mott's for tots apple and fruit drink. Good luck :)

Have you tried the sippies that use straws? He may like that better.

There is also the approach of just ditching the bottle an offering only sippies. Keep showing him how it works and when he is thirsty enough he will do it.

It's just a couple of thoughts. Good luck.
