14 month old refusing afternoon nap for over a month.

My daughter will be 14 months on Wednesday- she has been refusing her second nap for over a month. The problem started with her going down easy for her morning nap at 10 but sleeping almost 2 hours which in return would create a problem in her going down for the afternoon nap at 2. I have tried shortening her morning nap to preserve sleep for her second but that hasn't worked in a couple of weeks. She has always gone to bed between 6-6:30 and slept until 7ish the next morning. So keeping her awake from noon to 6 is just a nightmare and has resulted in nightwakings. We tried to transition her to one nap a couple of weeks ago and she did really well going down at about 11:30 and sleeping 2 hours but like I said she started having some nightwakings- but she also got her bottom molars around that time as well. I guess my question is, is it normal for a 14 month old to be on one nap? Those that did transition to one nap, did it result in your child being overtired which then lead to nightwakings? Did those nightwakings go away after your child adjusted to the new schedule? I need all the adivce I can get! I am desperate and worried that I could be trying to transition her too early.

While some babies need two naps up until 18 months; all four of mine transitioned to one nap around the same age as your baby. She may go thru a time of one nap every other day. One thing I learned was a well rested baby will sleep longer and more soundly than an overtired baby. I remember this phase and it was challenging. If we ever had to go out in the late afternoon or early evening, my kiddo would sleep in the car and that made bedtime very tricky. Any change in schedule can be hard to get used too. Before you know it, she'll be ready to be up until 12:30 or 1 and sleep for 2-3 hours. Good luck!
