if a kid is banging their head to be hones ti would take that seriously. some people say gnore it cos its a fit...and its true it iwll go away the child will realise that nobody gives a toss when hes upset. personally i dont want my kids to stop being upset just for my conveinience and cops its noisy. i want them to feel able to get angry and upset and learn better ways to express frustration than harming themselves. thats a fair extreme thing to so to get your point accross. i know i only scream and bang my head when someones really not understanding how upset i am. lol. you could try to understand why she is doing it by just listening to her being with her protect her head with a cushion and tjust allow her to feel her emotions and frustrations and try to connect with that feeling and remember a time when you felt like that and what you really wanted or needed. was it space or a hug or to change the way things are or just to be distracted by something else. or to be brought outside? to be able to feel movement ? we were all littel kids once we can remember that. unless of course we learned to shut it all out cos we remember that nobody cared and just ingored us.

My now two year old son was doing this at the same age and pullling his hair as well he was banging his head on the wall and floor and at times even out side i was really worried that it would hurt him now and in to the future i took some advice from a old women on the bus that saw him do it it seems pretty simply now but every time that he did it put him in a naughty chair for two minutes no matter how many times a day he did it and not let him off and to make sure that that chair was only used for time outs nothing else
