16 Month old son doesnt sleep through the night yet. He wakes up every 3 hours. its like having a newborn! He also wont go back to sleep without a bottle of milk.. he will scream and scream. I am exhausted and desperate. His pediation suggested giving him melatonin to get him to sleep through the night. we tried it but it didnt work.

Darlene just remember at 3 am and your up for 10th time and you are so frustrated you are ready to cry I took some of those removable sticker letters and put up (This to shall pass) Good luck and remember we are here for you to vent.Good luck .One more thing when we did the sleep Study use low watt lighting, play soothing music and we do a warm bath with lavender and its time consuming but we read these books called 5minute stories she id enjoying them and we are letting her pick out books from garage sales she loves the hunt then we put them in a basket by her bed.Have mafe a huge deal out of it so she is excited to hear the storyshe falls asleep fast to hear the next story but what we learned she doesn't require as much sleep as us or her siblings thats just how she is wired we took everything from her room but her bed and small table with a lamp with a 25 watt bulb and her basket of books.also put a gate up at her bedroom door and when we are sleeping its ok to be up but you must stay in your room and be quiet until we are up

Hello
I have had the same problem I did the melatonin it didn't work.My daughter is 26 month snd out of desperation took her to have a sleep study they didn't have any answers as to why but started her on ,0.5 mg Clondine she wakes up once per night now and we started watering her bottle down until we got to plain water she threw it on her own. I would get rid of the bottles. You will have a few TERRIBLE nights, but if you can last through a couple nights of screaming and no sleep it will be like night and day after that. Right now it is a habit. You have to break the habit for things to change. Breaking the habit will mean you have to listen to screaming and have a few nights where you get little or no sleep, but once he realizes that the bottles are gone and he is not getting them he will start sleeping through.
