Hi everyone I am new to this and would like to share that I am so down and out about the decision I made for my 18month old son today, one of his front tooth cracked last night and do I decided to take him tot he dentist to see what they could do for him, come to find out he had 4 cavities on the top 4 teeth so the pediatric dentist said it was bad to where she would have to pull them, I hesitated then called my husband to see what he thought about it and we both agreed it would be better because our sons teeth were bothering him, I mean he would be eating and just have spasms of pain and I knew it was his teeth but thought they were just his back teeth coming out, please someone tell me I did the right thing for my baby!!! I am saddened and crying by the decision!!!

Thank you Lori I appreciate you responding to my post and now I feel a bit at ease now, I have scheduled another appointment with the dentist just to be sure everything is alright with my baby's teeth.

It sounds like you did the right thing. If the cavities were so big that a pediatric dentist said they needed pulled, and it was so painful that your son was having trouble eating, then they needed pulled. Yes it's a difficult decision, and yes I really do understand the conflict you feel on doing this. Talk with the pediatric dentist on what you can do to protect the rest of your LO's baby teeth, and what you can do to protect the eventual adult teeth. There are sealants that can be put on teeth that will help protect against decay. Sealants can last up to 10 years, and are especially important if there's a history of decay.
