2 1/2 year old and potty training

[deleted account] ( 2 moms have responded )

My daughter will be 2 1/2 on June 5th and we have made no inroads in the area of potty training. She refuses to use the potty. Should I be worried or is there an easy way to try to potty train an unwilling child?

Just wait until she is ready. If you've tried the sticker chart, treats, books while sitting, etc..., it isn't worth the battle. I had four girls who potty trained from 2.5 to 3 years old and a boy who took until he was four. Another boy who trained at 3. They are all different and will when they are ready. Good luck and be patient!

I don't know if you've tried this but, I just took the diaper off my daughter put her either in underwear or nothing and a t-shirt and we sat near the bathroom playing, and having snacks and drinks. Then when she started to go I put her in on the potty so she understood where she was supposed to do that. She hated being wet in clothing ever since then! There were definately accidents along the way but not too many. The biggest thing is when you decide you want to potty train do not go back to diapers at all unless just for nighttime. Good luck to you!
