I'm starting to have my 2 month old sleep in her bed for naps during the day. She was sleeping in her swing, but her pediatrician advised us to start having her sleep in her bed. ive noticed that she sleep shorter periods in her bed then in her crib. when in the swing, she is moving so I think that helps her stay asleep longer and when she sleeps in her bed of course she's not moving. HOWEVER, she sleeps longer at night in her bed. Basically we start our good night process at 930pm. bath, bottle and bed. she will sleep 3-4 hours, wake up for a bottle and diaper change which takes around 20 min., then back to bed for another 3-4 hours, same process happens and then sleeps 2-3 hours. When in her swing she would sleep 2-3 hours. Right now in her bed she's sleeping 30 min - 1 hour for her naps. is this normal? will this help her sleep longer periods at night?

You won't get a good sleeping schedule until she is older. Both mine got on SOMEHWAT of a sleeping daytime schedule at 3 or 4 months old.....slept for an hour in the morning at 10, then another hour nap at 2. Both did not sleep thru the night until one year old. At that point they went to bed at 8pm, and got one big nap during the day (12-3). They are still on this schedule. I would leave your baby in the crib anytime she naps. That way she relates her crib to sleeping. I found putting my kids to sleep in different areas all the time confused them. It took awhile (a few weeks) to get them sleeping consistently in their cribs but it worked. They are still in their cribs, oldest is 2 1/2 and youngest 1 1/2. I plan to convert my oldest's crib to a toddler bed when the summer starts.
