3 year old not wanting to swallow food

My almost 4 year old son is starting to hoard food in his cheeks like a chipmunk in stead of wanting to swallow it. Initially it was so random that I thought nothing of it but now it is becoming a lot more frequent in nature and I am unsure exactly what steps to take to try and correct it. He has always been a good eater and rarely ever dislikes food he tries. Has anyone experienced similar issues and if so how did you handle it? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi. I would love to know how you solved this issue. My 5 year old just started this and it has really got me going.

He could be going through a phase, or he could be suffering from acid reflux if he's started having trouble swallowing. Some kids don't like the texture of foods or the way they feel going down, too. He may be in pain and not know how to express it. Kids can have problems with their teeth and have pain when chewing. Since you said he's always been a good eater, he really might just be playing with his food. Let us know how he's doing :)
