3 year old video game addict

My son is 3 years old and loves playing video games. He has the wii and a v-smile. From the time he gets up he wants to play.....i NEVER let him play in the morning or late at night. He only gets to play for 30 min at a time. I am very concerned that he is going to end up being a video game addict and not want to do what most 3 year olds do. He is very advanced for his age and is hard to treat him like a 3 year old since he acts more like 5. My question is.......How do i get him to move on to other things?? The games that he plays are very educational so should i just let him play and not be concerned?

how about getting him some physical games too? like a bike or scooter? and let him run around outside sometimes. my son is very active and giving him a bike and scooter was one thing that kept him busy. having educational toys are good too... but let it not be just those kinds of fun he will learn.

If I were you, I would arrange for the consoles to be "broken" for a few days, as if the option isn't there I'm sure he'll find some other things to entertain himself.

Maybe you could set up some exciting stuff like craft activities or a den in the garden for the time he would usually be playing, then once he's gone "cold turkey" for a week or so, reintroduce time on the consoles as a reward for good behaviour/doing chores/ being kind to someone etc..

I think it's fine for little ones to play educational games on computers, but it's all about moderation. Kind of like sweets or a new toy, it should be a nice occasional treat rather than a daily activity. Hope this helps!
