Thats exactly what I did..

We went to the store and he picked out his big boy undies. He did pee in them a few times. But the day we were at the park and he peed his pants had to be the best timing. He was so embarassed he never did it again. Pooping on the other hand that was a different story. Untill I told him we had to throw them away. Which he did not like because with out them he couldnt be a "true big boy" those are his words!!!

Good Luck!!

I wouldn't worry about it. From what i've read and being a mom of two, most kids go in-n-out of stages. My son wasn't potty trained until he was about 3 1/2. I still have to occasionally have him wear a diaper/pull-ups to bed and he's 5. I know it's not a big deal because I know him and I know it's not a mental development issue. He just has a hard time waking up completely some nights. Your little guy probably just doesn't want to, he's not in the mood and if he was older and having this problem then I would worry but he is only 3. Good luck! :)

dont beat ya self up bout it,he will go,maybe get him a little kids potty, and try that avenue as well, and also as hard as this may sound, maybe you should put him in to undies, and let him wet himself, and then if that happens, course he will cry, course kids dont like being wet.then simply say, hun, you must use potty, when you need to go,or this will keep happening, and its not a nice feeling being wet.and he will say no,then just proceed simply by saying if you feel the need to go potty, then tell mummy and i will take you there,or go and sit on your potty, and then of course praise him,and the more he does it,the more he will enjoy going potty.kids know when they need to go.and every 20mins just say you need to go potty,he will either say yes or no.if he does sit on it,and doesnt go,then thats ok.try and make it fun for him to potty.all kids are different, and they all learn to things at their own pace.it is hard trying to be tough, but sometimes you need to be,for them to learn.but not to hard that they become scared of course.thats how i did it with my boy,and it worked, like i said all kids are different.you can only try new things.doing the underwear thing could be ya last hope, maybe.course the one thing kids hate is having wet undies,in time he will learn, that having wet pants is not cool at all.its a very hard thing the potty thing.but parenting itself isnt exactly easy task.we just do our best, and see where it gets us.it will be ok,just do the best you can as you are trying to.and it will pan out.good luck, with that adventure.course it is.all the best.

I have three boys two of which are potty trained not long ago. just let him do his thing I pushed my oldest and he regressed several times all the way up to almost 4years of age and it just suddenly clicked.my 3year old i tried to leave it up to him and he was just lazy so i finally just took the pull ups away and he only had two accidents.every child is different and boys tend to take a bit longer.

if you are seriously potty training, then i would say put him in underwear. yes it is more work for you, with cleaning and stuff, but i have two children, and each time i felt they were ready to potty train i took off the diapers and pull ups and they went in underwear. the boy did take a little while longer, but still within a few weeks at most neither one was having accidents including at night.

good luck!

did you clean them for awhile or throw them out the first tim?

I cleaned them for awhile. Then i had enough and made him to it a few times. I figured it would totally freak him out cleaning them himself. but it didnt so then i started throwing them out. Which freaked him out more then I thought! Kind of mean i know but it worked

I was alway told a child will do it when there ready.I did read a book on it and it suggested waiting until the childs 3 summer cause it easy 4 boys 2 pee on trees while outside and girls r more developed than boys at that time. But well as we all know every child is different and my son who will soon b 4 didnt totally do it until he was on his 4th summer.the letting them pick there own undies and wettin n them is really the best way i think so they know how it feels 2 b wet.Good luck:)

From what I've been told going to the bathroom and eating are the only thing they have control over. They are the only things you cannot force. I believe the only thing you can do is what your already doing but they will not do these things until they really want to and its their choice not ours. Look at it this way, have you ever seen say a 2nd grader still in pull-ups. Give them time and they will want to change to big-kid pants. You might also try letting them wash out the wet/dirty big-kid pants in the sink by hand, maybe thy wont want to dirty them anymore. just give it time and don't worry about it so much. Just give your child all the love and encouragement you can. Good Luck, I hope the best for you.

Am struggling with my daughter who will be three in about a week....she does well when we are out and about cause she does not like to sit in wet pull-up in car seat....but at home, she is too busy playing to got to the potty.....she went number 2 on the potty once about ten months ago...has not done it again....tried big girl underwear with plastic pants, this did not help.....Mom told me to give her a break as she is not yet three....may try just panties ( no plastic pants) for a few days to see if this phases her.....just hate having to handle the soiled ones...but thank God for sopa and hot water.....my oldest were at least 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 before they were fully trained....
