Use a wet washcloth to wipe his mouth out right after he drinks his milk. I didn't have this problem when I bf, but when we switched to formula I noticed the same thing. My pediatrician said that the formula is "filmier" and can stick to their gums and tongue. Just wrap the wet washcloth around your finger and swab around the inside of his mouth.
The doctor also said try to do it as soon after he eats as you can, sometimes leaving it sitting there can cause thrush. If the smell doesn't go away, take him to the doctor, he might have thrush, which hurts them :(

You could take a wet washcloth and just wipe off his gums.. I breastfed so not sure if it's a formula thing but I remember the "eau de sour milk" phase when my guy was little from all the spitting up!

I also have this with my month old daughter I think its because of the formula because the breastmilk doesnt make her mouth smell like spoiled milk I think im sticking to breastmilk only :)

They have baby paste and a very gentle finger brush out now, maybe you can try that? It's for the gums.

When my girls were smaller we had this problem. I just used a wet washcloth to gently clean their tongue and gums and the smell went away. Our doctor and a pediatric dental nurse in our health unit both said it's good to start cleaning tongue and gums now as it can help prevent dental problems with baby teeth later.

can you see white on his gums or tongue? I would clean his mouth out and make sure he doesn't have a little milk that stays in his mouth. If you cant get the smell to go away I would ask his doctor just to be safe.
