5 y/o and ABC's

Does any one have any suggestions on how I can help my 5 y/o learn to write his ABC's? He usually resists any school type learning I try to do at home. We made a big move this year and he missed some school and is now way behind the rest of his class, and I don't know how to help him to learn to write his ABC's and his numbers. I really don't want him to have to repeat kindergarten.

Last year we bought alphabet stencils for my daughter who was 4at the time. She loved being able to "color letters" with just the stencils she could write every letter on her own in just over a month. We got them at mardels bookstore but any store that has teaching resources should have them! Good luck

With my son it was just him being stubborn. Once he realized that I wasn't just gonna give up and let him play he finally started writing it. He's been writing for about 4 months now and he can write tons of words, his full name, and numbers and letters. So you just gotta be strong, don't let him give up. I started out with a Star Chart, for every letter he wrote correctly he would get a star, once he got to a certain amount of stars he'd get a surprise you could try that.

Making it a song while you are writing it down and have him copy along with you.. repetition is the key..
