It's pretty remarkable to have a hands and knees crawler this early. Babies do sometimes become mobile before six months (one of our four did), but it's often more of an army crawl.

Anyway, I have never, ever heard of a baby doing damage to themselves with early gross motor development. I've heard physiotherapists complain about walkers and Jolly Jumpers, but never about kids who just did stuff early on their own.

Really, if you son was uncomfortable and causing unnatural stress to his body he wouldn't do it.

I tried to stall our second daughter from crawling and starting solids because we were travelling on an extended trip to Spain and North Africa. I thought it would be easier if she wasn't mobile and was only nursing. It was useless. Despite my best efforts to not give her the chance to crawl or to have solid food she snatched a piece of bread from a street vendor and immediately started gobbling it, and then became a highly motivated crawling machine overnight - taking off one day when I put her down to change her.
