I have a verbal, clever daughter, turning six this week who has been potty trained since 2 but has always worn a pull-up at night. Doctors and friends told me it's normal for a young child to pee at night in a pull-up but lately she's also pooping (every 2-3 months) and says she's "too tired" to get up to go to the bathroom at night. She feels bad and I give her a hard time about it, but she continues to do it every few months. She's being stubborn about getting up at night- my husband thinks she may be scared, but either way, what do I do? PLEASE help!

you can do it even cheaper than that. go to your local spot for buying moving boxes and such and buy some mattress plastic. it works just as well if done tightly and taped underneath. let her use just blankets that wash easily until she stops wetting and pooping. now my one daughter wet her pull up every night until one day i ran out and was broke. she did it one more time then started going in the toilet at night. it apparently wasnt worth the trouble of cleaning up after herself. i have never scolded them for bedwetting, (i have 8 kids) just had them clean it up. they always corrected themselves. once they realize that safety net is gone, they just quit. i really hope your daughter follows suit. as long as you have a way to wash the sheets and blankets everything should go ok. i would definatly not use a comforter till its over though. and i have found that most of the mess stays in the underwear as she will most likely want to clean up right away anyhow. i know it will be hard for a time or two but hopefully this will cure it.

Thanks Alina for your feedback. When she poops in her pull-up, I don't clean a single thing. She is big enough to know better and go to the toilet, at least for a poop, but without the pull-up, yikes, it would be a mess with number 1 or two! I think that would make me crazy! I'm willing to try it, but I better get some special sheets for potty training- where do I get those?

take away the pull up! shes a big girl and it may be more messy if she does it but thats the point! she needs to realize that things she does have consequences. and make her clean herself up too. and her bedding. shes big enough to strip her own bed and put the stuff into the laundry. you can help her remake the bed but make her help. theres no reason you should have to clean her mess up. after realizing its hard work to clean up the mess she will most likely stop. good luck, hope this helps.
