my 7 month old rolled off the couch and hit the back of his head....his eyes seemed to roll back a little after he calmed down but then he started acting ok....it has been four hours since he fell and he seemed ok..hes asleep now....i cant watch for throwing up though because he has the stomach bug...i was told that if he acted normal after an hour or two then he was fine...he has no bumps soft spots or anything...still worried though...:/ Sad part is that he sat up on his own for the first time about 45 minutes ago tho! going to try and take him to the dr tomorrow because he has had 12 bm diapers and only 14 oz of formula today...he wont eat! ugh....so worried about his head and his tummy! couldnt live with it if something happened to him....advice please!

This happened to my kdi when he finally learned to roll. He was fine but the whole stomach bug I'd be taking him to the doctor about.

Not eating + diarrhea = starting to teethe. give him cold teething rings to chew on.

try gatorade its does the same thing as pedalite and if the baby dont like it use a medicine dropper and give it that way as long as they get a little drop every 20 mins he should be fine im a mother of four

Aww I hope your little man was ok!!! You are not alone...I can't even tell you how many times my LO fell and hit his head...ugh every time it scared the heck out me! My son is now a toddler and still manages to fall and hit his head....tough boy now! The other day he climbed up on the couch then literally ran off fell on top of his head and flipped I panicked I though he broke his neck...I was two inches away but he caught me off guard and it happened so fast! Sacred the daylights out of me...but he got up and laughed......
I can also relate to the stomach bug...no fun!
Don't be hard on yourself millions of moms have worse stories and kiddos that survived! I know how you feel it will be ok! Just wait until he starts walking....eehh!

my little one feel off the couch at 4 months (didn't know he could get himself in to a sitting positon until that day!) i rushed him to the dr, and he was justfine. he is now 2yrs 9mths. lot of babies have some kind of all, with in 6 weeks of my little J doing this my two best friends sons also feel one out of his high chair, and one off a low change table. take him to the dr, if nothing else it will ease your mind.

I can assure you that he is fine. Babies can take drops of about 3 feet or less (assuming the surface is not concrete) with no damage. Though, as I have told my doctor who explained this to me...just because they can take those falls, doesn't mean they should. Hope your baby feels better soon!

Try the non-flavored Pedialyte and mix it with either his favorite juice or some formula. That was the only way I could get either of my kids to take it.

It's very scary I too dropped my son he was weeks old tripped down the stairs we rushed him to hospital he was fine the Dr insured us babies are very resilient their bones are soft thank goodness but it was the most scary experience as a first time mum.

Instead of asking questions online I would be going to the doctor's office and having him seen. If you are concerned then you should have the baby seen today. And don't let them tell you to just watch him if you are concerned demand that they see him today!

Yes I would take him to the doctor regardless. I have always been told to watch and see if a. they throw up or b. they lose consciousness, even for a moment. Since you can't tell if his throwing up is due to the stomach bug or hitting his head, it doesn't hurt to take him to the doctor just to be sure. One thing to consider is how high your couch was, and what your flooring is. Carpet? Wood? These are all better than concrete or terrazo floors, which don't have any give. Good luck!

I think most people here would tell you take him to the doctor just to be on the safe side. Let the doctor know what happened. You'll feel better and be told exactly what to look for. The fact he also has a stomach bug at this time isn't helping matters, either. Little ones can get dehydrated quickly.

BTW, my daughter had a concussion at age 7 or 8 months - from me stepping into a crack in the sidewalk that caused me to fall - unfortunately, with her in my arms. That was quite a fall and her concussion was minor. Had to watch for vomiting and wake her every hour. Whether or not he has a concussion, only a doctor or someone with knowledge there can diagnose. They're taking better care and more precautions with possible head injuries these days. I'd decidedly follow up with the doctor on both the vomiting, the excessive BMs and the fall.

Good to hear he is fine! That's scary. When I was 8 months pregnant I fell down the stairs with my second. When I was 9 months pregnant I got into a car accident with my first. Actually 2.
So it's better to be safe :)

My daughter was playing w those pretty big rubber balls & it dropped & she tripped, hit the left side of the back of her head on the side door moldings, got a HUGE lump...luckily she was fine. Started running around again 10 mins after....it is a scary thing it was the size of an ice cube

my daughter who is 2 just b4 her bday was sick and had very watery bm she wouldnt eat and lost a couple pounds i brought her in for her 2 year dr appointment and the told me to feed her rice cereal with bananas and apple sauce because it will help make it more solid. a couple days later she was fine was eating again and gained 5 pounds in the week. just watch for signs of dehydration because that can be very serious if they dont pee within 6-8 hrs i would deffinatly take them in... as for bumps on the head my father-in-law dropped my daughter and she hit her head on a coffee table ouch!! she had a big bruse on the side of her face next to her eye i brought her to the er and sat there for hours and the doctor just said babies fall all the time as they r learning to crawl and walk...said as long as its not from a high hight then they are usually fine said just to wake her up every couple hours and get her to focus on your finger or on another object. :)

Sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my husband in December and at first wanted to die, too, but it gets better with time.

I was a first time mom when I dropped my daughter, too. It was 19 years ago but I still remember how scared I was. But babies apparently are tougher than we think.

Thanks! first time mom so the fall scared me to death...yea he went to the dr yesterday and they told me to give him pedialyte...I am trying but he doesn't seem to like it very much. That's why I wanted to take him to the dr. I was already going to get him an appointment before the fall....now i definitely am.

I would be more concerned at this point as to whether he is getting dehydrated. Is he still peeing in his diaper? If not, then I would take him to the ER simply because it can be so difficult to rehydrate a baby. In reference to his fall, if he is sleeping normally, breathing well, and has no soft spots, he is probably fine. I tripped over a toy when I was carrying my daughter and fell, dropping her on her head. I panicked and went to the ER, but she was fine.

Since he has a stomach bug and isn't eating it might be a good idea to take him to the doctor tomorrow.
