My daughter is 13 months old. She has been on antibiotics from about the age of 6 months old. Every time she ends antibiotics with in a week to two weeks time she is pulling on her ears, not sleeping again, and just miserable. I'm looking for other alternatives to antibiotics, any suggestions? Can I put garlic oil in her ears if she has tubes?

Hi Brenda,
Poor thing! Antibiotics definitely do harm to the immune system as well as to the digestive tract. Can you buy or make organic yoghurt or kefir with fresh milk? Consuming either one (with some mashed fruit or veggies), will counteract the effects of the antibiotics. Also, believe it or not, a chiropractor can help with ear infections by making slight adjustments using a special instrument for babies. (My 2-month old was cured of colic by a chiropractor, then my 6 yr-old was cured of his frequent ear infections - he hasn't had one since, and that was 2 yrs ago) You should be able to buy garlic oil ear drops, which work well. You could also peel a garlic clove, cut it to size, and tape it into her ear (gently, and make sure the garlic is hard, not squishy!). It'll ease her pain and "pull" out the infection. Hope this helps!
