Hello ladies, I need some advice! I have a 9 months old who is waking up 2 to 3 times a night! Some nights its even more. He goes to bed between 8:30 and 9. But lately he is waking up at 10 and than 1:30 or 2.. Than up again at 6.. He is teething and recently cut his first tooth. Could this also be a reason? What should I do?

He shares a room with his 3 yr old brother and its hard to get him to sleep any earlier bc his brother will wake him up.

more then likely teething...

look up sleep regression in 9 months old it is very common....

also right before babies reach a new milestone they sleep alot less because their minds are too busy thinking about all the excitement going on and until they master it , we unfortunately don't get much sleep

My son did this before crawling and walking and until he mastered each skill he would wake up throughout the night to practice, plus he was teething during both so it didn't help at all.

Has he been sleeping thru the night up until recently? My son does great sleeping thru the night until he gets sick or has an ear infection or sometimes even teething. It usually takes me a few days to figure out which one it is since he has the same symptoms with all of these. If it's teething I recommend giving him infant motrin just before bed. I found this helped my son better than the infant tylenol and it lasts 6-8 hrs vs. the tylenol that lasts only 4. It's worth a try and if that doesn't help have him checked for an ear infection. If he is completely healthy you can try what Shawn suggested which is the No Cry Sleep Solutions book. My favorite however was Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. Both are great books they just go over different sleep strategies. Good luck!

Right now, it's all about the teeth and the light. Get a black out shade if you don't have one, and give him whatever makes his tender gums feel better. I have NO problems with giving pain meds at night.

Each child is different, that is absolutely true. But there is also a difference between waking because of illness, pain, or actual hunger and waking because they just do. You need to help with the first situation, he is going to need you for a long time yet for this. I still want my mom when I feel icky. But, he should be learning to self-soothe back to sleep, if he hasn't already. Just don't try it until you've got a lull in the teething.

Be patient, this will pass.

Honey my 5 yr. old didnt sleep through the night till he was almost three. They say sometime it is normal but god you wish he would just sleep. Now my daughter started sleeping through the night at 4 months, so every child is different
