9month old refuses to crawl

I have a 9month old who refuses to crawl. She does roll all over & sits unsupported, but eventually throws herself back, so i always have to have cushions around her. She loves the walking ring cos it takes her wherever she wants to go, but i try not to leave in it for too long. I have been sitting on the floor with her trying to help her crawl, but she refuses. Is she just lazy & will eventually walk without crawling??? I hope not! Any suggestions???????

Neither of my girls crawled - my oldest girl (now 3) did a kind of crab-walk (both hands and one knee) and moved straight into walking - my youngest girl (now 20 months) just went into pulling herself up and then walking. Some children just don't crawl. I wouldn't worry too much about it - encourage her when she wants to pull herself up, keep making sure she does things that build her leg and core muscles (like sitting up by herself, etc) and go with the flow.

She's not lazy and she's not refusing. As others have said, babies develop differently and do things at their own pace. Don't stress. She's very likely a perfectly normal 9 month old.

my now two year old never really crawled. she started pulling herself along with her hands/arms and dragging her legs at about 7 1/2 months, but had started cruising around couches and coffee tables before 6 months. she up and walked at 8 months. trust me, while crawling and walking are exciting milestones, it's so much easier if they don't. my daughter is way ahead of most kids her age mentally and physically and most days i just which she'd slow down and act her age.

Haha! We have very similar kids I guess Leona! Mine started walking at 21 months and was pulling up on the furniture and such at 17 months too!

my son still doesnt crawl and he is 17 months, he started scooting on his bum at about a year and is just starting to lift himself on couches, low tables and such to attempt walking along. he just wasnt ready earlier! stay patient and enjoy her not getting into everything yet:)

My daughter didn't crawl until 17 months, although she did start scooting on her bum at just about a year old. Babies aren't lazy. They are sometimes just content with sitting and sometimes lack a little confidence. No biggie. She'll get there in time.

Some kids crawl and walk later then others. Some skip crawling all together. She'll do it when she's ready. Don't worry yet.

My daughter never crawled. She went right to walking at about 12 months. I wouldn't worry too much (I know I did). If she is reaching all her other milestones she's just fine! :)

Don't worry, every baby crawls and/or walks at their own pace. My sister didn't even crawl until she was 10 months old. You can't rush them either, babies are stubborn and will do it when they're ready.

As for the ring, walkers are not recommended anymore because 1. they can be dangerous, 2. they slow down the muscular development needed for actual walking, and 3. they weaken the desire to walk. Why go to the trouble of walking if you have a walker that does it for you? Walking is way harder than using a walker. There are studies about it.

Does she pull herself up on furniture and stuff? You could get one of those push toys, like the baby shopping cart by little tykes or something, they help with standing-up time but don't have the problems of baby walkers. Good luck!

every child is different and some babies just dont want to crawl, my friends little one didnt crawl they ended up bum shuffling across the floor, some just walk.

dont worry bout it to much and if you are worried speak to your health visitor.x

As everyone will tell you..........all children develop at their own pace. My baby is 7 months and has just started to crawl, however, my nephew only started to crawl at around 10 months. I wouldn't start to worry just yet.

Not exactly sure what you mean by a walking ring but if it's what I'm thinking of just be careful as I didn't think they are recommended these days. Is it a seat thing on wheels where their feet can touch the ground and they walk around?? They aren't good as babies hips aren't in the natural position for walking and can actually do more harm than good.
