The home pregnancy test looks for a concentration of a specific hormone in the urine. If you take the test early in the morning, the first time you go pee after waking up, that is most likely to give more accurate results. Make sure you are looking at the test result during the specific time frame as the instructions advise. Looking for the result too early or too late will not give you an accurate result. You can be pregnant and have a very low amount of the hormone, and so it would not show positive with the hpt until much later, after the hormone has built up more in your system. A blood test done at the doctor's office is usually more accurate.

If you are having unprotected sex, then you COULD be pregnant. We can't tell you just by a list of symptoms if you actually ARE pregnant. There could be a multitude of reasons for a late period and the other symptoms. You might want to get a blood test done at the doctor's to confirm pregnancy, and/or speak to them on what could be other possible causes for your symptoms.

Heartbeat should be detectable around 6 weeks.

If the blood test comes back negative, then talk to your doctor about other reasons for your symptoms. It's possible your body believes it's pregnant, when you actually aren't. Or, it could be a tumor or cyst. There's many things it could be, so you should keep an ongoing conversation with your doctor to find out for sure.

Sorry raye for the confusing post..actually docter gave me ultrasound Ips( 11-14 weeks ).but when went to lab the technician or some one told that it will be done only in 11weeks but ur saying u r 8weeks so please ask ur docter again that y she gave this scan,,at this stage we can do only some other first scan they said...and again I went to docter cabin but unfortunately docter went home...this is wat happened..so docter gave but lab technician didn't do so I came back without ultrasound..but before giving this ultrasound docter checked with a heart rate scanner..and she did not respond anything means she won't tell anything and gave this ips ultrasound but its not done by lab

First you said they did do the ultrasound, and you didn't know why they would do it if your hpt was negative. Now you say they did NOT give you the ultrasound? Get your story straight.

So, I did a little more research on ultrasounds (never having had one myself), and a transvaginal ultrasound (done from inside) is usually better at early detection than a pelvic ultrasound (done from outside the body) . But either *should* be able to see a gestational sac (black blob) at around 7 weeks or so. So, if you DID have an ultrasound done, hopefully they can tell you if you are pregnant. The IPS you referred to in your earlier post, I believe, is a special procedure done usually to check for birth defects, and not the general ultrasound done just to confirm pregnancy. The IPS would need to be done later in pregnancy (between 11 and 13-14 weeks).

You should talk to your doctor.

There is a chance you are pregnant. Some women have negative pee and blood tests until several months into their pregnancy. Since the ultrasound is geared toward finding a fetus at 11-14 weeks of gestation, it may not be able to tell you if you are pregnant at only 7-8 weeks. You will have to wait for the results.

We are not doctors and don't know what's going on with your body. If you have questions or concerns, it would be best to talk to your doctor.
